When Michael Jackson and Farrah Faucet both die on the same day, and nobody in this contest picked either, I think it shows that the Dead Pool section requires actual psychic abilities, and not just the ability to pick old folks.

So did you fellas ever decide on the proper method of averageing the locations?

"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History

Ricky was onto the solution with the sum of great-circle distances squared, but he seems to have flagged after spotting errors in his code. I'll try my hand at coding up that method, but not tonight.

The errors were floating point errors, which while can be detected can also be a bit of a bitch. I'll try to revive my code using mathematica (which, with proper inputs will symbolically calculate everything, avoiding these errors).

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

My latest attempt gives 47.9746457,-172.63666933 for the earthquake, which is very different from what we've seen.

Edited to add that that point is about 300 miles almost due south of Seguam Island.

But the terror attack averages to 46.5323365,23.1245176 which is consistent with other methods.

Which is in the middle of the Apuseni Mountains in Romania.
