Despite recessionary times that are beginning to look like a depressionary era, hard-pressed corporations are showing the America spirit by adapting to the new times. The latest paradigm is called the "hybrid merger." Companies, instead of defensively merging with competing companies, are creating unique new organizations built by splicing highly disparate existing entities into new and diversified corporations.
We just happen to have here a few examples:
General Motors has found a tax-free partner.
Bed Bath & Beyond always had trouble getting its customers to venture into their spooky "Beyond" department.
A troubled bank and the NSA domestic spying agency made perfect partners.
Chrysler was abandoned by Daimler, but found a match made in heaven. Now missionaries can sell Dodge trucks door to door.
