With hurricanes changing election dates, indicted politicians and an apathetic electorate, Louisiana may have been the only state to move even further to the right during the fall, 2008 election cycle. To make matters worse, the elites of our state school board have finally ushered in the Jindal supported bill intended to give creationists a backdoor into the classroom in order to proffer any pseudo-scientific diatribe or religious philippic they like.

Most of y'all may recall the Discovery Institute's faux anti-science bull intended to present religion in science class as a means to “promote the progress of science itself, which depends on robust debate and critical inquiry.” The state bull followed Discovery faithfully when it presented the bill as a means to “promote students' critical thinking skills and open discussion of scientific theories” and to provide “support and guidance for teachers.”

Considering this and Aguillard v. Edwards, the calm and orderly response to Katrina and our jailed politicians (not to mention those yet to be jailed), I'm so happy that Louisiana is a world leader in something....Illinois ain't got nothin' on us!

"We got an issue in America. Too many good docs are gettin' out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their -- their love with women all across this country." Dubya in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, 9/6/2004
