The original looked a lot like this:
I didn't have to do much. It was already real crappy art. Perhaps the silliest part is the guy in the distance, apparently trying to run up with his own stick.
But maybe I got it all wrong. Maybe they're just starting to assemble a new space station or something.

The sun is coming up soon, so I must rest in my native soil. One last spoof for tonight:
Edit: Of course, my real target above is not blind pilots but rather the magazine editors that required their cover artists to show both enemies on the ground and attacking aircraft close-up in the same scene. In the balance between realism and drama, drama wins hands down.
The aircraft featured the following (unedited) covers are doomed. They couldn't conceivably pull out of their strafing dives. These paintings would seem to document that the Allies were at least as enthusiastic about kamikaze tactics as were the Japanese.

Prior to broadcasting of any kind, the original "Happy Days" had to make do with the medium of pulp publishing. The plots were a bit different, too:
