Well, I'm of a mind that even huge public works projects aren't the same as socialism. Socialism is the control and ownership of the means of production by the state.
These state-funded projects, though certainly not the sort of things that many Libertarians would appreciate, aren't evidence of socialism. No more than the construction of the Great Wall or the Pyramids required a Marxist regime. Anyone can build these things, capitalists, warlords -- or even socialists.

| True. But they are made for the benefit of all, not because some capitalist or warlord wants to hoard money or power.
I don't mind people (capitalists) owning means of production. However, I do believe that companies that exploit non-renewable natural resources of the land should be controlled by the government of that land, to serve its people.
