I'm having a problem which I have trouble believing, but after 15 minutes of trying there seems to be no solution. I am trying to make a simple brochure but MSWord is playing tricks. I want the title to be CHARLES DARWIN, but every time I type it in the upper case appears fine until I hit the enter key or the space bar, then it's automatically changed to CHARLES Darwin. It does not occur with my own name or any other I use. It also does it if I just type DARWIN on its own. I have tried various font sizes and styles, no joy, to have his surname appear in all upper case is simply not possible with my version of Word. This has never been a problem before, is it possible that some bastard fundie has engineered a virus that will tinker with some words? Why not make it so that the name cannot be entered at all?
I'm stumped, and whoever can suggest a fix that doesn't necessitate me erasing Word and reloading it will have my eternal admiration.

Try highlighting the name, going to Format --> Font --> then look under Effects and check the "All Caps" box.
That should put the name in all uppercase. I don't think it's likely to be a virus. It might be the grammar-checker thinking it knows better than you or something.

Thanks double H, that works, but I still can't figure out why 'Darwin' is the only word affected by this. If it was a grammar checker it should do it to others, haven't found anything else yet. |

Must be that demon in MSWord.

Sounds like your computer has the dreaded "Hovind Virus". I strongly caution you against using it to figure your income taxes. |

PROBLEM SOLVED! Turns out someone had made some changes to the 'auto correct' such that every time the word 'darwin' was entered it was automatically capitalised, and it also buggered up a fully capitalised word. My daughter has been doing a few projects for school lately and was probably having trouble with it, so she must have modified the auto correct settings.
You still have my undying admiration HH! Every fundie within my vengeful grasp is now safe, and that's a good thing. |
