Yes, Obama is a good basketball player. He can drive left, then right. He can play to the right and cut back sharply to the left. His politics seem to come naturally, just as his basketball play.

Perhaps he tries to apply the best of each position? Not rethoric. Honest question.

I did something last night that I haven't done for a while, I watched a President press conference. Perhaps he was a little long on his answers, but he clearly showed a command of the facts and capable presenting those facts in the same clear way during the conference. What a refreshing change to have a thoughtful and articulate President.

Although his efforts may initially be futile we do need someone in Washington to change the current dynamics of politics. Cooperation and compromise should not be considered weaknesses when it comes to doing what is right for the country.

Yesterday I heard a few sound bytes of republican senators complaining about the lack of bi-partisanship. When I consider the efforts made by the President over the past month those complaints ring hollow. The republicans need to wake up and become active and willing participants in the econcomic recovery. No for the sake of the base, secretly wanting the economic recovery to fail for political gain is really cynical and will become transparent to the country soon. Their base may be all they will have come 2010 with Rush portrayed as the face and voice of conservative ideals and reason.

I watched the lecture (press conference) from President Obama last night.

People in Elkhart Indiana which he says need help will not be helped by this stimulus package. Most layoffs there are in the RV manufacturing industry. How will this stimulus bill help them in the short term?

Someone needs to tell him to look at the camera at the American people. He looked like he was just talking to the media.

When he said that he inherited $1 trillion in debt he was being a little disingenuous I thought. He did vote for the $700 billion bailout as senator didn't he?

Why ask about Alex Rodriguez? I laughed when that question was asked. President Obama should have said “Are you kidding?” and gone on to the next question. Ridiculous.

I also wanted to add to my previous post that I am equally dissatisfied with the House democrats for loading the stimulous bill up with so much spending for non-essential fluff.

It won't, if by short term you mean this year. The President was very honest about that saying that 2009 is going to be a very tough year. Then again if there are buyers out there who cannot get a loan due to the credit squeeze, then by freeing up credit to those qualified buyers who knows maybe some of them will be able to return to work. Just like the house boat manufacturers in Kentucky.

This sounds like criticism for the sake of criticism.

But it wasn't his vote that made the bailout necessary. It was the failed economic policies and lack of oversight by the Bush administration. So it is fair to say that he inherited the debt when doing nothing was not a good option.

I am amused at the good press Obama is now getting. Will he have that same good press by the end of his, let's say, third year?
