I find myself actually agreeing, wholeheartedly, with something that Pat Robertson came up with!

So you don't subscribe to Rush Limbaugh's "I hope he fails" school of thought?

That was a terrible thing to say. I mean, he's the president of all the country. If he succeeds, the country succeeds. And if he doesn't, it hurts us all. Anybody who would pull against our president is not exactly thinking rationally.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but Pat Robertson is right: Like it or not, Barack Obama is our President. If he fails, America fails; the two are inseparable. Rush Limbaugh revealed a whole lot about his brand of "patriotism" when he made those ridiculously bone-headed remarks. It really is quite amazing that the GOP has turned so enthusiastically to him as their savior.
I really don't know what to do; have a big drink or fetch the pistol and have done with it all, as the world must be ending anyway.

First and foremost....Both Are Complete Idiots.

2nd. Rush's "I hope he fails" has been taken COMPLETELY out of context by the media (and internet). I've heard the original and complete statement. He "hopes he fails" only in the sense that he (Rush) believes that if Obama succeeds it will lead to a totally Socialist Nation.....which he strongly opposes.

So? Why shouldn't you?

Even a stopped clock is right once a day. Anyway, in my opinion Robertson isn't so much an idiot as an exploiter of idiocy. He makes a fine career out of using morons for his own purposes.

Well, if it were a 24 hour clock, it would only be once.

Not so sure about that. I'm certain that Fred Phelps could never be correct on anything. If he said the sky was blue I would go outside and check.

Same for O'Reilly.
I might one day, by accident, agree with him... But I'd feel so dirty inside...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
Carl Sagan - 1996

There is that old analogy about monkeys and typewriters... put a bunch of monkeys in a room with typwriters and eventually one of them will type out the complete works of The Bard, given enough time.

I guess the concept could be applied here, given that Robertson never shuts the hell up he is bound to eventually say something that isn't hateful, mean, demeaning, derogatory, bigoted, or downright insane.... and that a normal rational person could agree with.

I admit the odds are long.... but hey, it happened.

Give the guy a couple of seconds and he'll be back to his usual though.

Yep. The same day this thread started I happen to catch a couple minutes of the 700 club. He was discussing/criticizing the stimulus package with the female host. After hearing the only two sound bytes that Pat could apparently remember three times I had to turn it off. "Blah blah blah full of pork and blah blah blah will not stimulate the economy."
