Harris has a poll out that asks people who their heroes are. In it, President Obama beat out Jesus! Perhaps there is yet hope for the species...

Obama Bigger Than Jesus
Barack Obama is now officially bigger than Jesus, according to a new Harris poll — that's right, a new study proves it! The survey, conducted last month in the United States, asked Americans to name their heroes. President Obama was the clear leader, easily beating the long-dead “Jesus” of christian mythology. Yes we can!

I'd sorta like to carry the matter a small step farther. Who are your top ten heroes? I'll shamelessly start it off:

1.Charles Darwin; Scientist
2.Samuel “Mark Twain” Clemens; Author
3.Father Damien; Priest
4.Stephen Hawking; Scientist
5. Ambrose “Bitter” Bierce; News reporter & Author
6. Blaise Pascal; Scientist
7. Albert Einstein; Scientist
8. Walter Winchell; Newscaster
9. Ronald Reagan; Object of Loathing
10.Barack Hussein Obama; U.S. President and, at this point, obligatory.

Not always, indeed seldom in that order, but there's mine.

7. Richard Feynman; Scientist

This is the list at this precise moment, of course, it will change before lunch time...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Feynman, Sagan, filthy and Kil are in amongst my top-ten, somewheres.

Have to fit in Judges Jones, Nick Matzke, Wesley Elsberry, Abbie Smith and Eugenie Scott in there someplace, also.

Actually, my "top ten" will have a lot more than ten in it, but "in no particular order." Just a huge, amorphous blob of names.

Mostly because I'm not going to pick a favorite between PZ Myers and Phil Plait. You're tied guys, do you hear me?! Tied!!!

Ah! Hugo Pratt is genious! Umberto Eco stated that when he wants to read something serious, he reads Hugo Pratt´s comics.

My favourite: Corto Maltes

My research shows that Barack Obama is probably about 13.5 inches (34.29 cm) bigger than Jesus.

According to what I've found, ancient adult Judeans averaged about five feet (152.4 cm) tall. Obama is 6' 1½" (187 cm) tall.
