Isn't it funny for Rush Limbaugh and Michael Steele going after one another regarding whose the leader of the republican party?

Dave Letterman to Limbaugh (from years ago interview), "Ever look at yourself in the mirror and think 'I'm full of hot gas?'"

"We are all connected; to each other biologically, to the earth chemically, to the rest of the universe atomically."

"So you're made of detritus [from exploded stars]. Get over it. Or better yet, celebrate it. After all, what nobler thought can one cherish than that the universe lives within us all?"

Now GOP Chairman Michel Steele has wildly backpedaled and retracted his criticism of Limbaugh. Shows who is really in charge, doesn't it?

And Democratic Chairman Tim Kaine took the irresistible opportunity to comment:

Limbaugh is 'the godfather' of the GOP,
said DNC chairman Tim Kaine.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The chairman of the Democratic National Committee persisted Tuesday in calling attention to his Republican counterpart Michael Steele's apology to Rush Limbaugh, describing the radio host as “the godfather” of the GOP.

DNC chairman Tim Kaine told MSNBC that Steele's backpedaling from earlier criticisms of the talk show host proves that Limbaugh is “clearly the godfather, or the he-who-must-be-obeyed in Republican politics these days.”

“When chairman Steele over the weekend said anybody who is rooting for this president to fail is wrong and those comments are ugly and incendiary, he was right,” said the Virginia governor.

“I thought that was a courageous statement for him to make,” Kaine said. “The fact that he kind of abjectly went back and apologize yesterday demonstrates that it is Rush Limbaugh who is the titular head of the party right now.”

I guess... That's a good news for the dems, no?

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Rush is always good news for the dems. Bobby Jindal was bad news for the dems, but his blowing of the republican reprisal speech was good news for the dems. Everything right now seems to be good news for the dems.

How are they going to blow it?

(They will blow it)

They may not have to. The world at large (mainly, the economy and maybe the Iraq/Afghanistan mess) might blow it for them before.

But, really, I understand that the GOP does not feel like loosing even more of its supporters, but gathering to right wing nutjobs seems like a poor way to gain traction in the centre...

I caught a portion of Limbaugh's rant speech at the Republican circle jerk on tv last week and was impressed. I didn't listen to the words, as nothing he says is of any value to anyone -- quite the contrary -- but the rhythms and cadence in his voice. No wonder his lies and empty, barely disguised threats go over so well in certain circles; he's good!

I feel certain that, if someone doesn't get fed up and off the pig, he will go down as one of history's great rabble-rousers. Like all rabble rousers before him, from pre-Biblical times to Jesus, to Hitler, he bears a completely inappropriate message that will ultimately result in his undoing. Let us hope it's soon.

They better grow some balls and discard the fundies, or they're going to get more and more marginal.

Agreed, and I had the same reaction to seeing Al Sharpton live and in person, several times, at the Diallo trial in Albany a few years ago. (http://www.davehitt.com/trial/index.html) He isn't much of a human being, but he is a master showman.
