Christian fundies, much as they scream about the influence of secularists, seem willing enough to embrace any "heretical" group that comes along with money and/or people, so long as they are useful. Look at the Moonies, a messianic cult which worships their "Father," Sun-Myung Moon. The Moonies have been in bed with the US Religious Right for decades. Maybe the more traditional fundies figure that they can fight their heretical allies after they take over.
