I'm sure that we've all heard all about the teabag parties the conservative idiots have scheduled for our annual Day of Anguish. Well, it's even funnier than you might think or they realize. Discussing it, Rachel Maddow all but broke up on the set. While conservatives may feel they've hit on a golden idea with their new "Teabag Obama" campaign, others are responding to the movement with approximately the amused disdain of a typical 13-year-old.
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, during a Thursday broadcast, mocked the "tea parties" scheduled to take place across the nation on April 15 and tried her best to hold back laughter at the rather unfortunate name the conservative resistance has assumed.
"All across America on Tax Day, Republican members of Congress are lining up to speak at teabag tea party events. Even Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina is getting in on the hot teabagging action," Maddow joked. "Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, previously most famous for his self-admitted very serious sin with prostitution services - he wants to give teabagging the Senate seal of approval. He has asked the Senate to commemorate the day of anti-Obama protests in law.' |
Hilarious, but, not being into that sort of thing, I think I'll give them a miss. But may they have the joy of it, if any.

The GOP death spiral continues, in a negative-feedback closed loop of self-propelled lunacy. Coming off their powerful high of the Bush years, the NeoCons controlling the GOP have been driven completely mad (not a long Sunday drive for many of them) by unbearable defeat. These guys seem to think that if the voters think they are dangerous loonies, they simply haven't been acting crazy enough.
That was hilarious, Fil! Thanks for the link. Funny, isn't it, that the Repugnantcans won't let their own Party Chairman speak while they are teabagging? It's like Steele's somehow being gagged. I suppose that Steele's supposed to feel grateful that he was even invited to the ball.
And Fox News is officially a part of the story, rather than reporters of news. I mean, we already knew that, but now there's absolutely no attempt to hide it any longer. Fox is nothing but the institutional Josef Goebels of the GOP.
I can't see how the GOP can hold together past their next major national defeat, something they are insuring by their increasingly laughable behavior.

Tomorrow is the Big Day; the day when all of these would-be Patriots Without a Cause are going to protest the slightly increased taxation of the wealthy. It is my understanding that this non-Cause is heavily supported mostly by those same wealthy. Should be fun to observe.
But I wonder, at this early hour, what the actual turnout will be. And will these buffoons take to the streets in a Veitnam-style riot of waving Lipton's and Tetley's (assuming they're not going by the alternate definition -- no guarantees there!)? Or will they do the less exerting thing, sit down in the parks, have a nice cup of tea and communicate with the rest of the squirrels?
We shall find out come the morrow.

| Charlotte is having theirs from 2-4pm at 600 E. Trade. Old court house I believe. I need to be in south Charlotte this afternoon and thought I would drive by to see how many were teabagging. If I can find a place to park I may get out, but I doubt that finding parking is possible in down town Charlotte. |

Y'know. I was going to put this thread in Politics but inner my muse sobered up and advised Humor. Now I understand why; it's high-freakin'-larious! I mean really, these good folks, and I love them dearly, are about as organized as Glenn Beck's thought process' and the argument can be made that Beck shouldn't be allowed out without a keeper. It was a great idea, really. Take 1 million tea bags and dump them in Lafayette Park to protest government spending. Hip, hip, hoo-ray!
But a funny thing happened en route to a visually pleasing Tax Day protest. The National Park Service said the tea party protesters didn't have the proper permit to dump their bags.
So instead of a raucous visual demonstration, all that was left was images of the tea party packing up their boxes of tea on a cold, soggy day in D.C.
Doh!
"We have a million tea bags here, and we don't have a place to put them because it's not on our permit," said Rebecca Wales, lead organizer of D.C. Tea Party.

filthy, that is hilarious! I guess these little authoritarian boot lickers don't understand the disobedience part of civil disobedience. God forbid they actually have the courage of their convictions and deal with the consequences of breaking a law. I wonder what would have happened if these folks were at the original Boston Tea Party. "Guys, we really shouldn't be doing this. The East India Tea Company is going to want to levy some hefty fines. Guys...?"
Of course, I'm not complaining. It's reassuring to see these pups are all snarl and no bite.

At 2:50p today I drove to the place listed for the protest in Charlotte and apparently I had missed it. It was supposed to last from 2-4pm, but what I saw about 2 blocks east and west was 35-40 people who appeared to be looking for a protest. I assumed they were part of the protest only because they were either carrying a sign or were with someone who was. According to the Charlotte Observer online over 100 people showed up. They were anticipating 10 times as many.
The signs that I saw were mostly about taxes. One of the protesters apparently felt under represented. Her sign read "No taxation without representation." I felt that she was under informed, but she sure was enthusiastic.
Edited: I hope someone got a chance to check out the link earlier at that point it did list just over 100 protesters. Now the same link says over 2000. |

I did mention the 'No taxation without representation' today... Being a non-voting alien and all... Maybe I should slip something about it along my tax form next year. |

Raleigh seemed to have an ok if less than overwhelming turnout. I only saw a minute or so on the toob but it looked to be maybe a couple hundred. Maybe there were more I didn't see -- the news gave it scant coverage. Anyhow, everyone seemed to be having a good time and the sighs were colorful. Whether or not it accomplished anything is an open question, but I'd guess not. These sorts of things rarely do unless, of course, there is a riot or a wet tee contest.

Amusing, is it not, that only a few days ago they were wringing their hands and moaning that Obama was a socialist. Now, they are gnashing their teeth and whining piteously that he's a fascist. I strongly suspect that they don't know the definitions of either word. Smegheads. 
This whole thing has nothing to do with taxes nor federal spending. It is about an educated black man wiping the floor in a presidential election with a white one. The fact that the darkie is having some success and will most likely enjoy a lot more of it drops a pipe wrench into their mental reduction gears, and the grinding can be heard nation-wide. Me, I love it!
Oh yeah, I love the sound of wrecked, political machinery in the morning because I know that the more it squalls on it's dry and rusty bearings, the higher the repair bill will be. And I do not believe that I am in the minority, here.
