Looking at the tag again, the mention of the 'Sunshine state' does bring images of brightness, that takes a whole new relevance in this context... |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Simon wrote: I don't see it as a breach of the first amendment, considering that anybody can have such a tag produced, including atheists... | I think I side with this line of thinking. And considering the ideas already come up with by Zebra and Mooner I think the Christians who pushed for this might end up regretting it. Imagine a loosely organized effort by atheists all around the state of getting these license plates with offensive lettering. |

I am pretty sure that the clerk at the counter can refuse producing a vanity tag if he founds it offensive, though.
On the other hand, the states will probably produce a serie if the demand is high enough. So, Florida atheists/humanists could probably organize and get one such tag produced. At least, until some fundie blocks it and then the (legal) fun begins...
