Most people here have probably read something at uncommondescent. The big headline today is... well it's not a headline. What I wanted to say is that there only seem to be Denyse O'Leary posts appearing there. In fact, the entire first page of posts is entirely by her. And, Denyse being Denyse, the posts are inane or irrelevant to anything having to do with ID/evolution.
I have a hypothesis for why this has happened. Dembski et al have ORDERED Denyse to spam UcD in order to hide some earlier posts. You see, Cornelius Hunter has recently claimed that evolution relies heavily on religious assumptions (The kind where someone claims that there is no god since no competent god would have created such a bad thumb for the panda). Hunter is obviously full of it, but at least it gave me an opportunity to state that ID MUST use religious assumptions in order to make any predictions at all. So, it's all because of me. Or have I caught a mild case of hubris? Ahem.
As you were...
Oh, and no links are provided. They don't deserve them.

| Yeh, I caught that on my morning descent into the ludicrous. I didn't bother to read any of her blurts, but I too, wondered whassup.
Sooo, I wonder whassup? We'll have to monitor it more closely over the next, few days to maybe get a hint.

If Denyse is dominating UD, it's pretty obvious she's being used to create meaningless filler material. She's certainly not mentally capable of consistently presenting the Disco collection of ID distortions, much less of coming up ideas of her own. So if she's the one fronting for Dembski, then Bill either must be occupied with something else, or the word has come down that the DI is about to launch a new paradigm shift and needs time to get its loyalists up to speed on the new party line.
My own impression is the DI has been working to quietly slip ID into so many school districts that they hope it will be practically impossible for advocates of secular public education to tackle more than a few of them. If there's a new Disco party line coming, it may relate to concentrating upon this tactic.

Well, things seem to be back to normal, whatever that might be, at Uncritical Demagoguery. They've got a thread going on the position of Jupiter, which seems to have suffered another comet strike, in the solar system and the protection it affords Earth. Much of it is simply a variation of the old God of the Gaps fallacy with statistics thrown in for the musical score.
21 July 2009 Was Jupiter designed for terrestrial human existence? DLH
Descriptions of this week's massive impact into Jupiter makes an interesting point on human existence relative to Jupiter: All Eyepieces on Jupiter After a Big Impact By DENNIS OVERBYE, New York Times July 21, 2009
| It continues with the expected implication that Jupiter must have been placed in position by the Great, Universal Juju to protect Earth from that very thing. The comments are equally interesting.

Oue Denyse loses it again: Bradley Monton: Atheist argues that design is serious scientific theory O'Leary Apparently, atheist Bradley Monton has just published a book with Broadview Press:
The doctrine of intelligent design is often the subject of acrimonious debate. Seeking God in Science cuts through the rhetoric that distorts the debates between religious and secular camps. Bradley Monton, a philosopher of science and an atheist, carefully considers the arguments for intelligent design and argues that intelligent design deserves serious consideration as a scientific theory.
Monton also gives a lucid account of the debate surrounding the inclusion of intelligent design in public schools and presents reason why students' science education could benefit from a careful consideration of the arguments for and against it.
| I remind that Dr. Monton is a professor of philosophy, not of any of the biological sciences and therefore is perfectly free to speak of gods and demons; designs and celestial fuck-ups all he wants, even in his classroom. Denyse dear, you really should starting giving these things some thought before you go off the deep end. That also applies to truck-driving: I sure hope Monton has tenure. Otherwise, he could end up driving truck for a living.
Not that there is anything wrong with that. I once considered it myself, because they really needed stable middle-aged women with small hands to get under the trailer and do some of the fine hitch work - but I knew I didn't have the muscle power. (If you must stomp on a can opener to get it through the lid, you do not have the muscle power for industry. Better stick to freelance journalism, if anyone taught you the trade.)
| Professor Moton's gig is in no danger, whether he's tenured or not. And, yeesh!, the hitch on a tractor trailed is made from inside the cab, the driver backing the tractor under the wagon until the jaws of the hitch are clamped solidly around the kingpin. Idjit!
