Here we go again; the weakly weekly News to Note distortion at Answers in Genesis. This week, it concerns diverse mammals, smart crows, lost dogs, pterosaur wings and something to do with Genesis being correct that I haven't quite go a handle on. This last contains the following claim, if I might be forgiven a bit of quote-mining: Yet Parker's version of Genesis reads quite differently than ours; no surprise, since he told Metro, “Creationism is totally unfounded. It is as dangerous as fundamentalism in other religions.” (Though we're at a loss to recall the last act of young-earth creation terrorism.) |
Don't read much history nor keep up with Middle Eastern events and military proselytizing, do you? But really, we don't need all that to find an act of terrorism close to home because it is an intellectual one, right there in Petersburg, Kentucky.

| According to whom? "One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter." All philosophical bullshit, of course. Under that philosophy, Jesus became a terrorist when he jumped all into the money-lender's shit at the temple that time. And his daddy was and remains the greatest terrorist of all, if you ask an atheist, no?
But to give as undirect an answer as possible, yes, in my opinion, murdering abortion doctors is an act of terrorism and very uncool. But ask some of the anti-abortion folks and you're apt to hear it described as an act of noble heroism and selfless sacrifice.
Hmmm. There is no mention made of Eric Rudolph in the article, either. They not only don't read history, but manage to ignore current events in the bargain.

Ah, but they're Muslim young Earth creationists doing the dynamite vest thing, not real christian young Earth creationists. We all know that the muslim version of creation is wrong.

| Yeh. I don't see the difference either, except that various blends of RDX seem to be easier to come by in the Mid-east than in the West. To be fair, it doesn't count as young-Earth creationist terrorism. If we're going to raise a stink over Stalin's purges being classified as crimes of atheism, we ought not misclassify the other sides' bad acts. |
To be fairer still, albeit admittedly in a speculative way, if polled, and not getting lies for answers, I think the YEC percentages amongst the abortion clinic thugs & thugettes would work out fairly high. Eric Rudolph was a member of the weird & vicious, fundamentalist cult of Christian Identity and Terry Nichols got "saved" in prison, hinting at already existing, religious leanings, quite possibly young-earth fundie. But of course, he might have just been trying to save his hide.
Randall Terry, a terrorist by any sane reckoning, is a creationist. He's gone mackerel-snapping recently, but what's the difference?
It is not conclusive to single out YEcs for this sort of thing simply because they live their lives pretty much like anyone else. Even though they vote Republican, most would be appalled at the suggestion that they shoot an abortion doctor and/or blow up his clinic. AiG knows this and falsely uses it to make their point -- also false. They cast a very narrow net, thereby, essentially rigging the results, although not as tightly as they would have us believe.
Now if we were to say, "Christian terrorists," hell, from the IRA and their Protestant adversaries to the Basque Separatists and beyond, the world is full of 'em.
