I wanna write something blasphemous about that law. But I'm afraid the Irish wouldn't be allowed to read it.

Seriously, I think this will teach Ireland -- and perhaps many outside observers -- just how obscene blasphemy laws are. If the proponents of this law thought they could slide this in without anyone noticing that it was a reactionary, medieval crock of gold shit, they will be surprised. I think people are going to notice that any enforcement of blasphemy law is going to be Draconian, by nature. Either Eire transforms itself into a dictatorship in which mere opposition to this law is in itself blasphemy, or this thing's going to go down hard, dragging the tattered power of the Church(es) with it.

It is incumbent upon thinking Irish citizens to begin openly and blatantly breaking this law, it must face a legal challenge. If the challenge is lost just continue breaking it and cripple the legal system.

Incumbent? They have a responsibility to represent our interests even at direct personal costs to themselves?

I wonder what sort of responsibilities, representing my interests, I can make incumbent upon you.

What I mean to say is that if they have any balls they will fight this until they win. There should be no meek acquiescence to such laws.

I can't God Damn believe this is happening.

I would rather face a cold reality than delude myself with comforting fantasies.
