What on Earth? # 81: Summer Capital

This city, one of the world's wettest, serves as its nation's summer capital.

For one point per question:

1. What's the name of the city?

2. In what country is it located?

3. What's the name of the architect who designed it?

Dang! You got it already?

Congrats, steinhenge, you got the full three points for this exercise.

I was looking at this town with Google Earth because I'm seriously thinking of moving there. I first visited Baguio, staying at the then-US military R&R spa, Camp John Hay, back in 1965. I can afford to live well there, which I can't here. Also, I like the cool, piny, mile-high climate, don't mind rain, and have visited the city several times.

I finally realized that what I was looking at might make a decent problem here.

Wiki's article on Baguio City. And on Daniel Burnham.

In this contest, it's starting to look like a long distance footrace, now with two clear leaders.
The standings:
  1. Hal, 28 points
  2. steinhenge, 24 points
  3. bngbuck, 7 points
  4. Hawks, 5.5 points
  5. Dave W., 5 points
  6. lorddix, 4 points
  7. Randy, 3 points
  8. sailinsoul, 3 points
  9. Simon, 2 points
(Ties are listed in alphabetical order.)

Interesting you mention possibly moving there as I was zooming in rather close with Google Earth, thinking that it looked like somewhere I'd love to visit. The little neighborhoods and their winding streets look especially inviting.

As my goal this round has been to finish at least half-way behind Hal, I'm excited to be where I'm at in the standings!
