The teabagger addlepates continue their efforts to sink health care reform and the Republican party whilst they're about it.

Movement's plans for 2010 put Republicans in a bind

In an effort to scuttle health reform legislation, the Tea Party movement is planning to storm Senate offices next week and launch a sit-in where protesters will pretend to be patients waiting for treatment at a government-run hospital.

"The intention is to go inside the Senate offices and hallways, and play out the role of patients waiting for treatment in government controlled medical facilities," states an announcement on the Tax Day Tea Party Web site. "As the day goes on some of us will pretend to die from our untreated illnesses and collapse on the floor. Many of us plan to stay there until they force us to leave."

Organizers made it clear the point of the protest is to demonstrate that the will of health care reform opponents isn't weakening as the Senate inches forward on a compromise on health care.

"Some [senators] are under the false impression that we’ve given up and gone away just because they haven’t heard much from us in the past few days," the rally announcement reads. "And those senators who have not made a final decision on how to vote are in danger of leaning in the wrong direction. We must remind them that our steadfast opposition to a government takeover of health care is as strong now as it has been all along."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't have any government-run hospitals, do you? If so, then how would they know what would happen?

Besides, who's talking about the government running the hospitals? It isn't in any of the proposals that I've heard.

Well, we have the VA system, but that's only for veterans.

Other than that, I think that the government only gives them some funding.

These teabaggers would bitch if you hanged them with a broken rope.

In this clip, Rachel Maddow reports on future plans for the Tea Party and explains the origin of the word "teabag" as a verb.

The explanation comes about 2:25 in and is NSFW. Or for conservative sensibilities.

We have some. The VA system (open to veterans only) and some county-run hospitals are fully funded by the local governments (and run poorly, I might add).

An example would be Cook County, Illinois' Stroger Hospital (formerly named Cook County Hospital) run and maintained through the funds of Cook County, Illinois (current sales tax rate of 11.25%).

The Tea-baggers may very well split the Republican party.

Wonkette's take on it:
It has been over a month since Teabaggers from across the nation visited Capitol Hill to tear up physical copies of legislation and sit around Nancy Pelosi’s office like schmucks, because of her plans to create another Dachau. But next Tuesday it will be the Senate’s turn! Folks’ll walk into Senate office buildings and pretend to die, because they’re pussies, and won’t die for real.

From here, we go to Dick Armeys brilliant strategy for this teabagging, which is only of actual interest to Sarah Palin and her Bachmann clone, and then we come to the closing paragraph -- classic Wonkette:
This should be pretty funny. Probably a good 75% of Senators will see presumably dead bodies on the ground and do what they usually do, which is try to fuck them before they go cold. Try keeping your death gag up during that, lie-mongers.

That is funny. What I was thinking of is that some of these teabaggers may have coronaries or strokes, and lay dying on the floor while being applauded by their buddies. One can only hope.

It would be nice if all the teabaggers, as they collapsed to play dead would be whisked away to the world of present-day medical insurance. Transported to emergency rooms, clinics and hospitals, diagnosed for whatever they actually have wrong with them* and then before treatment they have to show proof of insurance and be charged full-price for all the services.

* Their insurance may not cover mental problems.

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.

A response to the Wonkster wasn't long in the making:

Stay Classy, Wonkette.

So there was all kinds of buzz on Twitter about this. My first thought was, oh, it’s Wonkette. Right. Of course it’s obnoxious. I didn’t actually read it until just now.

The first thing that got my attention was this:

Folks’ll walk into Senate office buildings and pretend to die, because they’re pussies, and won’t die for real.

Over the top and just wrong on several levels. But let’s face it, class is not exactly Wonkette’s strong suit. Then I sort of laughed because they can’t even get their facts right.

“From the Teabagger website, sponsored by Dick Armey…”

Their fundamental misunderstanding of this movement is laughable. First of all, the term “teabagger” has been thrown around so much that it’s completely lost its impact. Thanks for bringing another crude term into the mainstream, lefties. Second, the teabagger website? Because there isn’t more than one? Every organization has their own site. And let’s be real, Eric Odom has a new website rolling out all the time. TaxDayTeaParty.com, the site that was linked in the post, happens to be one of them, and that site has nothing to do with Dick Armey at all. It was founded for last year’s Tax Day Tea Party event. Eric Odom has no affiliation with Dick Armey or FreedomWorks other than cosponsoring this event.

Dick Armey doesn’t fund ANYTHING himself. He is the Chairman of FreedomWorks, and FreedomWorks funds, well, freedomworks.org. We are not all a part of the same outfit. The FreedomWorks logo appears on the TaxDayTeaParty.com site because we are cosponsoring the Tax Day 2010 event. I know that coalition building is a foreign concept for Lefties. But that’s what this is.

Then Wonkette turns up the charm up just one more notch with the closing paragraph:

This should be pretty funny. Probably a good 75% of Senators will see presumably dead bodies on the ground and do what they usually do, which is try to fuck them before they go cold. Try keeping your death gag up during that, lie-mongers.

Way to be vile. If you’re going to be crude and attempt snarky humor, make sure your facts are right. Meanwhile, an apology for essentially wishing us all dead would be the right thing to do. We will be waiting.
Italics mine, to separate the quotes.

Y'know, I'm starting to like the teabaggers. As political social disease' go, they're rich entertainment.

Stay focused, Tabby. Oh, and don't forget your meds....

And what pray, I hear you ask, became of the Grand Teabaggin' Croak-In at the Senate?

Oh, you didn't ask.... Well, I'll tell you anyway.

The whole thing seems to have been something less than dramatic. A fair number of 'baggers showed up, but none died, for real or otherwise. Indeed, out of the pity in their hearts, a contingent from GA went off with a loner from CT to sympathetically teabag Hapless Joe rather than their own senators.

They did manage to piece together a Solstice Carole and had a lot of fun singing it, probably in several conflicting keys..

Link
The scheduled tea party "die-in" this morning didn't exactly live up to the hype. A group of tea partiers gathered this morning and "stormed" Senate offices as planned, but the crowd was smaller than at past events. As for the "dying" part, that didn't seem to play a large part in the event either. TPMDC noticed no deaths, fake or otherwise, while we were there.

The group that was there did travel far to make it, probably because there's another tea party event this afternoon sponsored by Americans For Prosperity, the business-backed charity that has paid for tea party buses in the past. Die-iners hailed from as far away as Washington state. Georgia had a large contingent, though unlike others in the group, they didn't go to visit their senators during the office storm. Instead, they tagged along with the lone tea partier from Connecticut on his way to visit Joe Lieberman.

"We're lucky -- our politicians aren't the bad ones," Joy McGann of Atlanta told TPMDC. "We figured we'd go with this man from Connecticut -- he's alone and he needs the help."

Heh, he ain't the only one.
