Link Satan, the Fall, and a Look at Good and Evil
Introduction, by Bodie Hodge The most common questions asked of Answers in Genesis—next to evolution and millions of years—relate to Satan, the origin of sin and evil, and the Fall of man in general. A complete understanding of this issue requires a careful examination of the Curse in Genesis 3 and other early chapters in Genesis. |
Indeed? How does one examine the writings of an ancient peoples? I rather doubt that Mr. Hodge is an archaeologist; he has no access to the original writings, and he's suffering from an iron-bound preconception from the get=go. In particular, Satan and the origin of evil are hot topics in today’s culture because the world denies the existence of both. For the most part, the church has few biblical resources on the subject to counter the claims raised in today’s culture. This new web series examines the origins of the problems we face today and looks closely at the bad news in Genesis. But you’ll also find hope here: the powerful good news of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice that has conquered sin, Satan, and evil once for all. |
So we are going to examine a myth are we? Excellent! And we are going to do it with minimal resources. Hmm.... Not so excellent. I submit that my hypothesis that Pat Robertson is Satan is just as good as the Biblical one. I've heard that he's hiring -- wanna job?
The problems we face today were brought upon us by ourselves and natural disasters that we weren't ready for. Each week, we’ll answer some of the common questions most of us face—important questions in need of solid examination. To answer them, we will carefully consider what the Bible says, since it is the only completely reliable source of information about Satan, evil in the world, and suffering. |
Oh, goody! But I must ask; if the Bible is the only reference in existence, where's your collaboration? How do you know it's reliable? Here’s a look at some of the topics we’ll address: |
Ok, let's see what we've got here. #9632;Did the serpent originally have legs? |
Yep. It had a common ancestor with lizards. #9632;Should’t the Woman (Eve) have been shocked that a serpent spoke? |
I certainly would have been, and I have a little experience with serpents. I suspect an hallucination; possibly opium induced. #9632;Wasn’t Satan the serpent, not some animal? |
Provide empirical evidence for the existence of Satan, otherwise, it was just a snake. #9632;Why do we get punished for what Adam did? |
No other scapegoat available? God likes his scapegoats. #9632;Is original sin (sin nature) passed through the father’s genetic line? |
I do not understand this "Original Sin" concept. What, were A & E passing around a dose of the clap? #9632;Biblically, could death have existed before sin? |
Of course. There was life 3.5 billion years before the Bible was even a delusion in a tribsman's mind. #9632;Why didn’t Adam and Eve die the instant they ate the fruit? | Perhaps it wasn't poisonous? #9632;Did Adam and Eve have to sleep before the fall? |
As A & E were mammals, we can safely assume that they did. #9632;If Adam knew of good and evil, because he was programmed with language, then why did God create the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil? |
That tree was God's ganja stash, man. You'da been pissed too, had A & E gotten into yours! #9632;How can God, who is, according to Scripture, perfectly Holy, create anything that can be unholy (or fallen)? |
Perfectly holy as compared to what? The mythical Satan? Please... #9632;Shouldn’t Eve have been a clone of Adam? |
Perhaps; genetics left a lot to be desired back in the day. Either way, it's a good story. #9632;Was Abel eating meat soon after the curse when he wasn’t supposed to be (Genesis 1:29), since he kept the flocks and sacrificed an animal in Genesis 4:2–4? |
I would have been. Why let good protein go to waste? If God had wanted some, I'd have been happy to share. #9632;When did Adam and Eve rebel? |
When does anyone? When conditions become oppressive, people revolt. #9632;How long ago was the Curse? |
What curse? #9632;Wasn’t the Curse and death a good thing to keep the earth from being over populated? |
Oh, that curse! It didn't work, did it? I'm not sure I can stand any more. This promises to be the most far out, AiG blither yet.
The first installment of this new series lands next week. Get equipped for this skeptical age. |
Exactly right! Become a skeptic....

| Indeed.
I don't know if I'll put this one through the shredder or not. It looks line it'll be a hell of a long series and I suspect we'll all be bored to distraction with it well before it runs it's course.

I don't think that this post should be in its own thread, since it's dealing with just another article in this series, do you?
Anyway, Happy Jihad's House of Pancakes has his own take on this Hodge article in the series.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |
