I've made one of those many, many "Hitler Downfall" meme videos. I've never before attempted to edit a video. I plan to upload my parody to YouTube, but I can't seem to write a properly working file to disk.

I'm using a German language clip of the bunker scene where Hitler freaks out, a version without subtitles. I have employed Windows Video Maker to add my complete parody subtitles. I can save the results as a "project," but when I "produce" the resulting video as .WMV file, I get a video which plays well, except near the end both the original video and audio disappear, and only my subtitles appear.

If anyone can help or advise me, please do.

[bump]

I really am desperate for help here. I spent a good 15 hours making this spoof, and I think it's one of my better ones. But I just can't save the whole video intact.

Sorry, Mooner. The most I've done with video in the last 10 years is download intact videos from my camera and then upload 'em to YouTube. Wish I could help, but with the speed of innovation in technology, I must consider myself to be a video noob once again.

Sorry here too HM, no savy with WVM.
But I ran "WVM problems" in Google.
This message board came up
on the result. Bet you'll find a quick solution after posting your issue.
Good luck.

Okay, nothing I've tried so far makes the vid come out right. It still goes silent at the same point near the end, with only my subtitles showing against black after that point. No matter what format I save in.

Here's what I'm willing to do. Windows Movie Maker uses input from a video as well as from a "project" file. I could email the input video and the project file to anyone who both has WMM and time to fiddle with this. As a bonus, I could send the almost-good output video file that I produced. And if you can make a successful output video from that, send it to me so I can put it on YouTube.

I prefer dealing with people here who I already know. Any takers?

Email it to me. How big is the file? I have the new Windows 7 version of MM (Windows Live MM) and might have better luck. I also know someone well-aquainted with MM (he created it) if I have trouble.
