Of course you didn't, because you took a detour to use the word "hoax," which is what started the "firestorm" for me, at least.
The poll clearly shows that global warming isn't as important to people as the other things they were asked about (you'll note they didn't ask about how high a priority the government should place on, say, ice cream flavor availability or eyelet placement on sneakers).
But one of the reasons that global warming polls so low is that deniers like you are willing, unpaid accomplices in the oil company propaganda machine, Bill.
And even though the denialists have managed to get a lot of egg on their faces recently, from the CRU email brouhaha to Himalayagate to surfacestationgate to Rosegate and now Amazongate, people like you, Bill, still won't look at the science, and you'll keep on parroting the lies you're being fed. Just so you can pay more for energy now, and so your grandkids' grandkids' will suffer more later.

64% of the population rating it as "important" is caring little? In a poll where other options were "not too important" and "should not be done"? I'm not at all sure that "care little" is even a good interpretation of those results.
I'd rather see it higher up, given the magnitude of the problem, but I don't really agree that care little is actually a good characterization.
It might very well be that cap and trade is not popular with the general public. Neither are taxes, but sometimes hard measures are necessary, even if the public doesn't like it. |

And sometimes "hard measures" are just trumped up reasons for the government to put more and more of the peoples money in their own pocket as this is exactly what cap and trade would accomplish. And what do they need to push cap and trade? The American folks on board with the MMGWACC scare. But the trouble is the polls show MMGWACC as last on the list of their concerns. The folks are more concerned with our lose of morals then any MMGWACC alarm going off and the folks pushing this see that as a threat to their whole cap and trade money grab.

No, they are emission rights. There is a significant difference.

Bullshit. If you look at the current scientific evidence, measures are necessary and quick. Cap and trade is one of the possibilities. Whichever measures are implemented, they will cost money.
Cap and trade has been implemented before on industries to decrease pollutants with good effect.

Sigh, back to that again Bill? Last on the list of concerns does not mean that the American people do not want action. The government is supposed to tackle multiple problems at the same time. Especially if still 64% find global warming an important issue, as your own poll clearly indicates. |

Looks like I can't comment anymore on his blog, wordpress fucking sucks. I had the same problem on the Uncommon Descent blog.

Not taxes, a fee based on the amount of carbon emission the company gives off, and it doesn't cost them a dime. They just pass on the extra expense to their customers.

I've heard of an alternate system called "Cap and Share" where the industrial companies have a cap on their CO2 emissions, but to give each citizen a permit to sell to the company in return for producing a certain amount of CO2. This sounds like a more feasible idea to me than cap and trade. Any opinion on this solution?
