Here's a video about "The Kennedys," an upcoming rightist-crafted pack of made-up crap, as well as the petition to stop it from being aired as "history." The script-writer of this 8-hour "history" series is conservative Joel Surnow, co-creator and executive producer of the pro-torture fiction series, "24." From those who have read the script, it appears to totally distort history, and is full of anachronisms and seems to be engineered only to defame all the Kennedy family with lies.
Increasingly, the Right sees the facts of history and science as evil impediments to their power that must be replaced by myths that better serve their purposes. This must be stopped, and this show is a good place to stand firm against such calculated distortions.
The script falsely has John Kennedy saying, "I've been an idiot," and taking blame for the creation of the Berlin Wall. Ted Sorenson has read the script and states that every one the scenes that show him (Soreneson) present are completely fabricated and never happened. Events are mentioned as happening in the wrong year in order to fit the scriptwriter's agenda. Jackie Kennedy is shown being cruelly forced by JFK to remains a virtual prisoner in the White House at the very time she was actually staying in Hyannis-port.
This monstrosity could be shown as a "historical fiction," perhaps on some kind of a lowbrow glam channel, but, as a consciously invented political smear, it has no place on the History Channel.

I was interested to find Ted Sorensen's (us old-timers remember him) remarks in the comments.
"I was amazed to find reading those pages that every single conversation with the President in the Oval office or elsewhere in which I according to the script participated, never happened. There were no such conversations... A minimum amount of research could've avoided the remarkable number of obvious errors of that kind in this script."

I'm not terribly surprised at this. The History Channel is gaining a reputation for being something of a crock, what with the physic shows and all. I've only watched it a few times when house-sitting for my younger daughter, who has satellite. Some of it's quite good, but much of the rest is not.

| Interesting that it's being done not long after Ted Kennedy died, meaning that the best authority acquainted with the facts can no longer respond. Not that I'm saying they're being cowardly slimy little pricks, or anything like that... |
