Yes, 'tis the season, and the day, that a Jewish fellow is alleged by a bunch of non-Jews to have reanimated whilst buried in a cave. They really are quite serious about it. The Vatican is enjoying a lot of pomp and circumstance, and madmen in the Philippines have been crucifying themselves ever since Friday to placate their gods. Brightly colored, hard boiled eggs have been hidden and found by children all over the country, and factory workers get a couple of extra beer drinking days. Bass and crappie fishing is pretty good this time of year and the Easter Bunny can be found in various shopping malls throughout the land. It's good for business, you see. Parents can spend money whilst the younger of their bemused offspring wonder how come Santa's ears grew so, and the elder detect liquor on said Bunny's breath. Just like on Santa's last December.
It's truly a barbaric spectacle, this Easter celebration, but what does it all mean? How do we wrap it all up in a single, symbolic package?
Well, there's this....
Spring is here and I'm wishing the best of it for all, even the crazy Filipinos and those whom I've managed to offend yet again.

It reminds of the Flagellants, doesn't it?
That insanity is still around and it is said that Pope John Paul II "beat himself with a whip and slept naked on the floor to bring him closer to Christ."

I wonder if it will rise up and start walking around? |
