Ray Bradbury and his deli (but it ain't kosher) religion. Shame he seemed like such a smart guy...

"The 89-year-old science fiction author watches Fox News Channel by day, Turner Classic Movies by night. He spends the rest of his time summoning "the monsters and angels" of his imagination for his enchanting tales."

" "It's a God-given thing, and I'm so grateful, so, so grateful. The best description of my career as a writer is, 'At play in the fields of the Lord.' "

Meh. His idea of his 'religion' seems harmless enough, I doubt that he'll ever come banging on my door or start haranguing my daughter in the open spaces at her university.

And I've never been a fan of him anyway. Great writer, but a lousy scientist. My type of SF requires that the author be fairly competent at both.

I agree with The Rat. Bradbury's always been a "soft science fiction" writer. Along with his fantasy. I'm fine with fantasy, including his, but enjoy my SF "hard." Ray Bradbury has always had a soft spot on the top of his head, making him less than a critical thinker, though a fine enough writer. It's not as though he's suddenly "gone bad" -- he's always been a poor critical thinker.

Writing skill does not imply the ability to think critically. (see Orson Scott Card)

Ray Bradbury has, as far as I know, always been sort of quietly religious. Doesn't detract anything from his writing. He is an amazing talent and you can rarely detect his religious beliefs in his writing.
