They're getting crazier.
Tea party group: Homeland Security ‘a liberal hate group’

By Eric W. Dolan
Thursday, December 30th, 2010 -- 3:10 pm

The United States Department of Homeland Security is one of the top five liberal hate groups of 2010, according to Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips.

Phillips said the federal department, which was created in response to the September 11 attacks by former President George W. Bush, is a "bad joke."

"DHS will not enforce border security," Phillips wrote on the Tea Party Nation website. "It makes Americans go through a joke of a security system when they want to fly. It invades their privacy while not going after terrorists."

"And then of course, there is the infamous report where DHS ignored pressing issues like illegal immigration and Islamic terror to put out a report warning about terror from 'right wing extremists,'" he continued. "The DHS Clown in Chief, Janet Napolitano borrowed a page from the Clinton administration to try and demonize conservatives with this idiotic report."

Paranoia rules with the teabaggers, although I can agree that the DHS has been a crock since it's it's inception and is getting worse. The bit about the SPLC and the ACLU is just typical conservative whining. They're all about free speech, but only for themselves.

Pretty soon they'll declare, with a straight face, that democracy and elections are a liberal plot.

And they would be correct. The Founding Fathers (whom they claim to simply adore) were about as liberal as it gets.

But what makes the DHS "liberal?" It is because they won't shoot illegal border crossers on sight? Or is liberal just a catchall term for anything the Tea Baggers don't like?

Edited to add: Oh, I should have read the article. It's because the Dept. of Homeland Security dared to suggest that right-wing hate groups should be monitored for violent tendencies. Of course, they did the same for left-wing terrorist groups, but Baggers have always seemed to have trouble with concepts like neutrality and basic sanity.

On this instance, he could possibly be right...
At least, it's presented as such.

I wonder what Phillips thought of the DHS between 2001 and 2009? He seems to be critical only of 2009-10.
