I don't know why I should expect otherwise, but I've heard on two separate programs on NPR, two spokesman from conservative "think-tanks" (boy, is THAT a stretch!) have claimed that FDR was against collective bargaining for government unions. Specifically, I heard some clown from the Cato Institute spouting the talking points again on yesterday's Radio Times which struck me as wayyyy too coincidental. And, what do you know, I was right. The right-wing is lying yet again:

FDR's quote on collective bargaining

Golly, I'm so surprised

"What the hell is an Aluminum Falcon?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought my Dark Lord of the Sith could protect a small thermal exhaust port that's only 2-meters wide! That thing wasn't even fully paid off yet! You have any idea what this is going to do to my credit?!?!"

"What? Oh, oh, 'just rebuild it'? Oh, real [bleep]ing original. And who's gonna give me a loan, jackhole? You? You got an ATM on that torso LiteBrite?"

As I recall, FDR was opposed to public sector unions striking; collective bargaining was just fine.

They really hate FDR because, I think, every Republican prez since Eisenhower was a scumbag and I see little hope for their future in the current crop of drooling aspirants. Roosevelt actually served the country honorably and well.

Coincidently, my mother workd at the hospital at Warm Springs, GA when FDR was in residence.
