Got a warning for ya; pull up a chair and smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
A couple of weeks ago, I got hit with a virus that actually switched McAfee off and shut me down, bigtime. My son-in-law fixed that handily enough, but when I tried to log on to SFN, it wouldn’t accept my password. I was wondering if I’d been banned, which wouldn’t exactly be a new experience, although I couldn‘t figure why.
Again consulting Kevin, he checked it out. The scumbag left something on the site that, after a time triggers it with my password. Kevin crushed it like a junk car. He thinks it was personal. I’m inclined to agree.
He tells me that I should spend no more than three minutes here at any given time, so as not to be vulerable any longer than necessary. So, my future participation will be a little spotty.
Admins, I think you need to examine the site and see if someone else is about to get hit.
I also wish the sniveling, little pussy would work up the balls to confront me. Won’t happen, of course; cowards and backstabbers seldom come out into the daylight lest everyone see what morally repugnant chancres they are.
Who do I have to shoot to put a stop to this?

Could it have just been bad timing? For several hours, the site was asking everyone for their password and no one was getting on. Turned out to be something that was done during a routine maintenance of the companies server that we are on. @tomic sorted it out. But that morning, even administrators couldn't get in using our passwords. |

Kil, that sort of thing wouldn't have blown-out filthy's anti-virus software.
Nor was it anything that his son-in-law could possibly have seen as a virus and "crushed" (although if Kevin actually "crushed" anything on our servers, then we do indeed have huge security holes). |

| I'm talking about when he signed on after he thought the problem was fixed. What if he did that at the moment we were down?

What if he did that at the moment we were down? | Whatever Kevin found and "crushed" was after the site wouldn't accept filthy's password. I suppose it's possible that whatever that was really had nothing to do with SFN at all, but I'm trying to take the story as told, placing the highest priority on our site's security. We don't want to rule anything out based on mere coincidence until that's all we're left with. |

if you are that worried about it you can just not log in. You can still browse the boards and only enter your login info each time you make a post, this way you remain logged out. |

| If there is malicious code embedded in the SFN-website, then it most likely will not matter if we log in or not. In fact, I believe the risk to be higher to visit our site not being logged in: When visiting our site as guests, you will be served a number of Google-ads which content is beyond our control. On one hand, do you trust Google-ads? On the other hand, Google-ads provides a measure of income that pays part of our server fees. (Feel free to use the Pay-pal link to donate, to help keep our server running)
While original Snitz forum software do have security-holes, the software platform we're running the site on is heavily modified, and very unlikely to be breached.
For now, I see no reason to be worried about viruses on our site.

Well, this is all baffling to me. Hopefully Dave is sorting it out. But why target Filthy and not one of the, shall we say, less polite members of SFN or an administrator? Could be his flood essay, but I kinda doubt it. |

I'm waiting for filthy to answer a couple of questions via PM, but am doing what investigation I can in the meantime. |
