Man, one hopes that this story is off. Otherwise, things could get bad in Europe.
It could well be that their economy may actually be the least of their problems.

It is. The Laacher See caldera area is similar to the Yellowstone caldera area. Only thing is that Laacher See isn't overdue for an eruption. It's got about 1,500 years left before it becomes "time" + or - 500 years or so.

Why would a large canoe, no doubt built to save visiting Tennessee football fans from the next great flood, be a problem? Seems like a nice gesture to me. |

| Sorry, I sometimes have a weird sense of humor. I just noticed the misspelling of volcano as volcanoe. A canoe is a small boat, right? So a Super VolCanoe should be a big boat for Vols, which must refer to Tennessee football fans (Vols as in the Volunteer State, see VolNation.com). Since its in Europe, it must be for visiting fans who would need a big boat, like the Ark, to escape a possible world flood.
