The S. cerevisiae is a unicellular organism... | So why did you say that Ratcliff should have used a single-celled brewer's yeast? If S. cerevisiae is unicellular, then Ratcliff did use a single-celled brewer's yeast, didn't he?...with multicellular ancestry. | All yeasts have that same ancestry, so why did you say that Ratcliff should have used a different brewer's yeast? Switching from one brewer's yeast to a different brewer's yeast wouldn't have changed anything about the yeast having a multicellular ancestry.

Here you go again, DaveW. You just cannot get past yeast. S. cerevisiae is a well studied yeast and is called brewers yeast because it is used in brewing(that is why it is well studied).
Read about yeast first.Note how many different kinds of yeast species there are.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeast
Yeasts are eukaryotic micro-organisms classified in the kingdom Fungi, with 1,500 species currently described[1] estimated to be only 1% of all fungal species. |
Yeasts are unicellular, although some species with yeast forms may become multicellular through the formation of a string of connected budding cells known as pseudohyphae, or false hyphae, as seen in most molds |
Note here DaveW. S. cerevisiae falls under, some species with yeast forms may become multicellular through the formation of a string of connected budding cells known as pseudohyphae, or false hyphae, as seen in most molds

Why?

Because he was using a sockpuppet.
He was a troll that intentionally violated SFN user agreement on several occasions (among other things, violating copyright even after being told not to do that, and told how it should be done instead). If you want more exact reasons, I could dig it up for you. |
