So, who's worried about this Stop Internet Piracy Act? I know that there's nothing I can do about it as I'm Canadian and this is an American bill that they're contemplating.
Wikipeidia, google and several other sites have closed down for the day (or at least put up special "banners") to note this.
Webcomics, Cracked.com etc have also joined in, as well as freethought blogs.
Here is PZ Myer's take on this, which I suspect is more accurate than the Rapture Ready people's take.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

Well, this group of people, including Adam Savage and author Neil Gaiman, wrote a letter expressing their concern about SOPA and PIPA. |
“In a modern...society, everybody has the absolute right to believe whatever they damn well please, but they don't have the same right to be taken seriously”.

Here's a TED talk (sort of) that pretty much explains SOPA and PIPA and the history of such laws. Really good.
Defend our freedom to share (or why SOPA is a bad idea)
What does a bill like PIPA/SOPA mean to our shareable world? At the TED offices, Clay Shirky delivers a proper manifesto -- a call to defend our freedom to create, discuss, link and share, rather than passively consume. |

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.
Why not question something for a change?
