Not you acting your dream but observing yourself? In my dreams I am myself looking out my eyes. Not looking upon myself. I have to say I have had three experiences The one I described I was congnizant of my observation. The other two was observed by two other people. I have tried to recreate, meditate on doing it but I get to a certain point... a complete heaviness of the body but so conscious in my brain I get frightened. Frightened I would not return. Sounds corny but true. Sometmes when I fall asleep I feel that way that heaviness and I think it is going to happen and I wake myself up. Its especially so when I am very tired say from work or kids.

As I said before, a hypnogogic hallucination, well known to science and well documented. Happens to most folks at some point in their lives. Most often happens as you are just falling to sleep or just waking up, comes with audio and visual hallucinations as well as sleep paralysis while seemingly concious. A mild variant of narcolepsy, no big deal. Also you havent been abducted by aliens...(preempting your next thread)

Re: the bolded passage
Thats all you ever do and ever have done, you start there and usually finish there regardless of our responses.

"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History

"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini

But we know consciousness is a function of the brain. Through medical science It can be turned off and on, and we can even give it all sorts of illusions, by toying with the brain in medicine and in scientific testing. By adding or subtracting chemicals, or electricity, or even other EM waves. No brain (actually just small parts of it) no consciousness. Tinker with those parts that bring out consciousness and tinker with what consciousness experiences including creating the illusion that vision or sound or the conscious mind itself is bodiless and separate. So when you invoke a mind that can operate separate from the organ that makes it you are talking mumbo jumbo.

No, but you do seem to think that your "consciousness can move outside" your body. That metaphysical dualism is what chef's post takes issue with.

Well let us not look at as metapsychical.. just not harnessed...controlled..replicated...Think of the Ancients what they knew of the stars and the universe and of course the mind...compare to what we know in this day and what we will discover tomorrow... etc
