Dave, if 5000 unarmed U.S citizens were to march on Area 51 would you expect them to be shot dead, and if so how is that in any way appropriate in a humour thread? If enough people blitz the facilities, the fascist underbelly of a clandestine, secret, autonomous goverment will be exposed. It will be a massacre that carries with it enough upheaval and controversy to render the constitution meaningless...not exactly humourous material.

But the idea that "they" would refrain from killing those 5,000 people when "they" have already been directly responsible for the deaths of millions by keeping secret life- and money-saving technologies (according to YouTube comments) for decades is a very funny idea, indeed. The whole thing is hysterically self-defeating.
Heck, the idea that one could find even just 1,000 willing martyrs for this particular cause is pretty funny all by itself. Paranoid conspiracy theorists aren't exactly known for their organizational and leadership skills. |

Actually, 500 is not a lot of people to shoot.
They don't actually have to shoot you. Minefields and all that.
Same thing happens if you try to breach the defenses of any military base.
If 5,000 unarmed citizens (assuming you find 5,000 who won't stop moving and won't panic after the first heavy machinegun rounds slam into the crowd) would march on Area 51 (a military base known for secret projects definately under the umbrella of "national security" and a long relationship with Lockheed Skunkworks), you'd see a response complete with heavy weapons and lots and lots of UCMJ arrests including transfers to Gitmo.
But if you wanna try it, go ahead, bulletsponge. |

Maybe 5000 unarmed citizens could be convince to march on area 51 by claiming that Jesus had indeed returned, but has been held captive by the government at area 51 since January 1, 2000.

Why didn't I think of the idea for Moonscape?
But seriously. If there is so much as one nuclear bomb stored there, anyone crossing the deadline will be shot. That's been policy since nukes were little babies. Just ask a former Marine or Air Force security person. They do shoot to kill to protect nukes. |

And shoot to kill to protect the existance of foreign fighters that the government wishes to examine. In 1968, Iraqi MiG aircraft defected to Isreal. The Isreali government sent both of them to the US (Area 51) for performance testing and examination. There may also be mockups and "creatively acquired" foreign radar installations so that the effacy of stealth aircraft can be tested against expected detection forces.
It is still being used for experimental classified aircraft. The VF22 Raptor aircraft is the latest to be declassified.
There is some speculation that there may be a nuclear reactor onsite to provide local power.
All very good reasons for a military to shoot idiots who refuse to obey lawful orders to vacate an area. |

There will be very clear and immutable ground rules set for opening fire on intruders. I recommend that nobody try to enter that base unless invited. They aren't playing games. |

Security people will have very clear and immutable ground rules for opening fire on intruders. I recommend that nobody try to enter that base unless invited (unlikely!).
The military won't play games. "They can't shoot us all!" is not only gruesomely incorrect, it's besides the point. If fifty are shot, how fast with the rest flee? How long will the survivors spend in prison?
I'm not calling anyone cowards, but I'd expect survival instincts to kick in soon after shooting begins. Hell, I'd run or surrender, were I stupid enough to be there in the first place.
And consider this, who will stand at the fore of the base intruders? Not the dangerous idiot provocateur who suggested the occupation, I'll wager. |
