Well after my crash course on solipsism here, I will repeat what I said previously:

If solipsism is true then my present reality is the real reality anyway.


I think that even if I believe it to be true I cannot change what I think is my present reality. So there is no difference if I believe it or not, so I will reject it and live out my life as if solipsism is false which I believe it to be anyway.

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Eph 5:15-17)

I don't know who the "we" refers to, because I reject solipsism because its truth value is irrelevant given that I cannot act differently based on it.


Why couldn't it shake your confidence in the validity of empiricism? If we're retreating to some value less than truth since it all rests on a rejection of solipsism, why do we rest on this level of nearly-truth and argue against those cutting other logical corners? Does it become a matter of how egregious the error is?
