Hint #1: Among other things, this person sometimes works as a standup comic.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

Jamila Bey?

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Eph 5:15-17)

At the risk of cross-posting (and so I can post the next Face): Correct! Kil will provide further plaudits, and the skinny on Jamila Bey.

Bingo!

A Wiki page is in the works for Jamila Bey, but for now I'm going to rely on this description of who she is and what she does:

Jamila Bey is a journalist based in Washington, DC where she hosts the weekly radio show The Sex, Politics and Religion Hour: SPAR with Jamila on AM 1390 and AM 1430 in New York City. She is also a writer for the Washington Post blog, She the People. A stand-up comedienne, Jamila says she enjoys the stage because it’s a cheaper hobby than scrapbooking.

Jamila served a decade-long stint as a producer and editor at National Public Radio working for shows including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Tell Me More with Michel Martin, and Talk of the Nation. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, The New Humanist of London, Jazz Times Magazine, WebMD, The Today Show and radio stations around the country.

A sought-after speaker and writer, Jamila’s areas of expertise include health and family policy, and all issues concerning the First Amendment. She particularly enjoys reporting on issues concerning religion and the separation of church and state. As a vocal atheist and freethinker Ms. Bey raises awareness of religious issues in the black community and for black women in particular.

Her first book about the role of religion in the lives of African-American women is to be completed in fall 2012.

She was also a panelist at TAM9 and does guest shots on lots of blogs.

I also happen to know that she has been inoculated.

Here we are right after our free DPT Vaccination at TAM9 where I had the pleasure of meeting her.

I'm bumping this thread because of this video, from CSPAN. (Click "Coalition of African-American Pastors" on the right.) That's Jamila Bey at about 19:10, asking a Black, bigoted, anti-marriage-rights preacher some damned pertinent questions. To put it mildly, he doesn't handle this well, though this was supposed to be a press conference. Hilarity ensues.

Ed Brayton writes that Jamila Bay Causes Trouble Again at Dispatches from the Culture Wars.

Somebody had to. Good for Jamila!
