This was my first Hitchens book that I completed reading. I had delighted in reading his many articles over the years, as I like his sense of humor. This book was more serious so not as much of his humor bubbled up, and that's excusable given the dark content. There are many exquisite passages, and the final chapter had the feel of a crescendo in an orchestral piece and with a satisfying ending. Recommended.

| Most excellent book, indeed. I just got my autographed copy back from a Swiss friend here, just before he left the Philippines forever for his native land. Going to read it again, now. |

I got this for Christmas and still haven't got around to reading it yet. I'm looking forward to it, though. |
