Oops, the judge released Markuze yet again:. . .
Farley also said he believes Markuze was behind a series of threatening messages posted on a webcast Farley took part in on Wednesday with a group called Virtual Skeptics. One message read, “the police won’t save you.” Markuze appeared before a judge at the Montreal courthouse on Monday where he was released after agreeing to a series of conditions, including that he not communicate with Farley. |
(Hat tip to PZ Myers.) The Montreal court system seems to this outsider to have a "catch and release" policy.

 This is a tragic comedy. Tragic for those being harassed and threatened and Dennis is having a big laugh thumbing his nose at the police and courts. What's it going to take? Maybe another petition of some sort is what it's going to take to end the harassment and threats with immunity. There is no indication this guy is going to change his ways, why should he? |

Mabus Redux: Operation Archangel Gets Dennis Markuze Arrested by Tim Farley.
On Friday, November 16, 2012 Dennis Markuze was once again arrested by the SPVM (Montreal Police) for violating the terms of his May 22 suspended sentence. It took many people many months to track him down and convince the police to arrest him. This is the story behind that.
For quite some time the most read item on this blog has been the lengthy history of a character named David Mabus (in real life a troubled man named Dennis Markuze of Montreal, Canada). It tells the story of how skeptics, atheists and science writers organized on Twitter to pressure the Montreal police department to take legal action against him, after he made repeated violent threats over many years. It took many cooperating people, several police reports, a Change.org petition, numerous phone calls and faxes and much other work to make that happen.

I was just about to post that link, Kil. Nice that SFN got a mention, and that you got thanked specifically.
Nicer still that the cops have confiscated all of Markuze's computers.

Thanks for passing that along, Kil.
Much stuff to read and learn, and Farley has done a fine job of documenting this sad saga. I'd never known, for instance, that Markuze expressed an interest in blowing up Federal buildings way back in 1995. His obsessions have been operating for a very long time. As I keep reading, this guy looks more and more like a fine subject for a novel or movie.
I hope Markuze doesn't become the model for such a character, because what is lacking for a "good" plot is actual killing. If he's allowed to run loose, he may eventually act out the violence screaming in his head. |

No worries, I browsed the blog at work but didn't have time to get to the list. Now when you mentioned it, I searched for "Dr. Mabuse" then just "Mabuse" and got miffed because I didn't get any relevant hit. It wasn't until I actually read the list of thanks that I saw my IRL-name.   |

Under the circumstances, if Farley had thanked "Dr. Mabuse," it would doubtless have confused people. Considering the latter's use of "Doctor Mabus" as an alias, it would have sounded as Farley was thanking Markuze for helping to nail himself. (Come to think of it, that might have been appropriate.) |

Markuze is on the loose again.
He's been spamming various people's email and web-site forums with an unusually short message which either asks the reader to search youtube for the sites' name to watch videos about the "PIGS" or where he claims he's innocent and please tell my side of the story.

| How nice! A perfect example how the courts will not (in some cases) and actually cannot protect those threatened and harassed by untreated nut jobs like this one, who effectively pisses on that Judges robes and gets released. There really is no substitute for protecting yourself. |
