Let's give hands to a long awaited return of Ding & Ling.

I've missed them.

Even when trapped in a Euclidean 2-torus, the Dings break through the fourth wall just fine.

My high school drama class and one play did not teach about the Fourth Wall, so I had to Google it.

Thanks!

A dear friend replies:

"I should also point out that the characters in the comic strip are trapped
in a 1-torus, not a 2-torus. For it to be a 2-torus, the top and bottom of
the strip would have to be connected as well. As it is, they're stuck
in the topological equivalent of a punctured disk.

The top-bottom linkage was never tested, and so it cannot be determined if the strip is a 1- or 2-torus by simple examination. But we have no reason to doubt the character's assessment of their topology.

They may indeed be in a "cylinder" space. But lacking picks or ladders, Ling was making a fair guess.
