Nice to see your back posting Mooner. Last I recall a hurricane was bearing down on your location.

I particularly like the topic being on Statin drugs. I've heard, first hand, of people who are happily taking them and are even upping their dosage so they can enjoy even more of the foods the should consume less of. Apparently their doctors inadequately inform and explain to them the list of known side effects. Side effects can be liver damage, digestive problems, muscle pain, neurological side effects, increased blood sugar, type 2 diabetes or memory loss, to name some of them. Someone I know is very pleased to be taking his statin because he doesn't have to change his diet and can now eat more cholesterol rising foods (yummy). Increased blood sugar and/or type two diabetes? No problem he's got pills for that so he's covered and "doing well" in his and his doctors mind.

After hearing his masterful logic on how this is so great for his gastronomical pleasures, I couldn't be bothered voicing how idiotic doing this seems to me. On more than one occasion I've had people tell me they're taking a particular daily drug now they're older and when I asked why they're taking it they say "I don't know" but that their doctor said they needed it. So there they go, happily popping their new life long prescription, cruising through their Twilight Years Zone.
