I think you missed the end where it identifies the author and that it was satire.

It is sad that satire could be confused for actual diary entries, but that speaks more towards the outlandishness of Bachmann and the literary skill of Nanasi.

Seems about right. I was also taken in first time I read anything from Landover Baptist Church.
