The GOP's healthcare 'victory' was anything but:
In short, Donald Trump’s promise to cover more Americans more cheaply while protecting Medicaid was a grotesque lie.
But, but, but... Freedom!

Thinking about what is ahead, and inspired by the celebration of white guys on the white house lawn over the passage of this dog, I wrote this:

"A done deal? Not exactly. This celebration is for a bad bill that passed in congress, and it's strange because you would think by seeing this bunch of (take a close look at them) congressmen, that the bill is a done deal. It's not. This kind of back slapping on the white house lawn for a single step in the process is, up until now, unheard of. But who knows? Maybe Trump supporters will see this as a success when it's really just a political photo op.

Now the bill goes to the Senate, where it definitely has an uncertain future. If the Senate doesn't shelve it, and changes it, which is likely if they want to get it passed, and it passes, it will go to a reconciliation committee comprising of members of both houses. Then, if they can work out a compromise, it goes back to the house and the senate for another vote.

Since the senate will probably tone it down if it has any hope of getting it through its house, it will probably lose in congress on the second go-round.
And remember, this will all happen after the CBO comes in with the scoring, which congress rushed ahead of, (even though Ryan said he will never do that with major legislation) in hopes that no one will notice that it throws so many people off of health insurance and bad stuff like that.

I suppose it should also be noted that McConnell vowed not to use the nuclear option on legislation in the senate, which would mean the bill will be DOA in the senate. But if that promise is anything like Ryan's promise, well...

So here's a bunch of (dare I say it) white guys celebrating what is very far from a done deal."

It's not impossible that the bill in some form will get through both houses, but I think it's very unlikely. As it is, I do believe that several congress people will lose their jobs over their vote and I'm not so sure the senate wants to wade into that minefield.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Republicans Party Like It’s 1984:
The really important thing, however, is not just to realize that Republicans are breaking their promises, but to realize that they are doing so with intent. This isn’t one of those cases where people try to do what they said they would, but fall short in the execution. This is an act of deliberate betrayal: Everything about Trumpcare is specifically designed to do exactly the opposite of what Trump, Paul Ryan and other Republicans said it would.

Whoda thunk it?:
Today, President Donald J. Trump informed FBI Director James Comey that
he has been terminated and removed from office. President Trump acted based on
the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and
Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“The FBI is one of our Nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and
today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” said
President Trump.

A search for a new permanent FBI Director will begin immediately.
No, really, who would have thought that Trump would fire the guy who's most directly responsible for Trump being President right now?

And he was fired for overstating the amount of Huma Abedin's emails on Anothy Weiner's laptop?! That's what got Trump perhaps three percentage points!

Perhaps Comey expressed doubts about his previous actions. Perhaps he expressed a desire to publicly declare some regret over his October 28th letter. More likely, his investigation into Russia's involvement in the Trump campaign was getting someplace Trump didn't want it to go.

More here.

Turns out, my first guess may have been right, and Trump may have just been pissed that Comey expressed a tiny bit of regret over his effect on the election.

Don't know when, but Trump went on the Tonight Show and played password. And the only way he got any points was to show one of the words to his partner.

Trump's performance in charades (starts at 10:50) wasn't much better.

What James Comey Told Me About Donald Trump paints some very powerful pictures.

It just gets worse as time goes on. Firing Comey was probably the dumbest thing Trump has done so far, and a lot of people think it's the beginning of the end for Trump.

To my thinking, the Comey episode, so far, is much more damaging to the president than the meeting with the Russians and the info he gave them, even though I don't know why any other country will trust us now with sharing their intelligence.

What a clusterfuck this administration is. Stupid to the core.

Trump Says He “Never Mentioned the Word ‘Israel’” to the Russians, Which No One Says He Did:
It’s hard to tell who comes off worse in this clip: Trump, who thinks he should get brownie points for not actually disclosing the name, address, and passport number of the spy who gathered the intelligence he was passing to the Russian government, or Netanyahu, who desperately wants this visit to go smoothly, and stands there grinning, saying that the state of intelligence cooperation between the two countries is “excellent.”
