As we have discussed earlier on this forum, a while ago the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry merged with the Council for Secular Humanism into the Center for Inquiry, meaning that both those organizations ceased to exist, to instead become "programs" under CFI. Here is an article where Ronald Lindsay tries to justify the merger: https://www.secularhumanism.org/index.php/articles/7158
I'd like to know three things:
- The article defends secular humanism against accusations of being an ideology, an accusation that supposedly has been leveled by skeptics. I wonder if skeptics have actually leveled that accusation. I can't recall ever hearing or reading that. Is there any source for it? After all Lindsay spends a fair amount of the article trying to rebute the charge.
- Among the CSI folks, what was the opinion on this merger? Were they for or against it?
- What do you think about Ronald Lindsay's argument in the article above?

Humanism is definitely an ideology, arguing otherwise is delusional. |
