The first verse of the Holy Quran breathes the spirit of peace; it reads: "In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate."
Most verses of the Holy Quran are based on peace and kindness, either directly or indirectly. The ideal society, according to the Quran is Dar As-Salaam, that is, the house of peace [Quran: 10:25]
The inclusion by Islam of the belief in the Divine origin of all religions and the acceptance of their founders as Messengers of God, in its fundamental doctrines, is the most important and practical step that Islam has taken to remove feelings of bitterness and animosity among the followers of various faiths and to create an atmosphere of peace and goodwill among them.
The Holy Prophet's message is quoted here below to understand view point of Islam:
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him ) said “O People! just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds.
“Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.
““O People! it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People! listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during month of Ramadan, give your wealth in charity).

Amazing how many sectarian wars there are among the Quran's faithful, hmmm?
It's almost as if the claims of peace are a lie made by an absurdly simplistic recipe for world domination. |

Welcome to SFN, Humble1Servant!
I agree that Islam (like nearly all religions!) preaches peace. I hope you and other practitioners can hold accountable those who do not follow that concept.
What do you think: why do so many violent people claim to follow religions of peace? |
