| Yeah, Ricky, the Book Reviews folder is the only moderated folder we've got, because we'd like to keep it just book reviews. Though I'm sorta open to renaming it simply, "Books" and lifting the moderation. Anyone have thoughts on that? |

I always considered physics as a science......?
The Book Reviews folder doesn't have very many topics in it, so making it more broad and unmoderated would certainly add more posts, but I wouldn't want to change it, for I appreciate the moderation. |

Easy to read, and very informationally dense. Excellent end of chapter reviews and a nice online study aid as well.

For physics i liked Ohanian's "Physics".
I'm afraid i can't really recommend anything for basic chemistry. The books we used were highly specific ones regarding subdivisions of chemistry, like organic synthesis or biochemistry or analytical chemistry. We didn't really have a book covering the entire discipline. |

The Structure of Evolutionary Theory is superb, Gould did make it a bit longer than nessissary but it is very detailed and a bit eaiser on the brain than most.

Gould's book can also substitute for a serious brawling weapon... drop it in a pillowcase and you have an improvised crushing weapon capable of smashing down some doors...

I think i just sold my 6th edition I used for BIOL 100 last semester...it was really good and informative but i didn't find myself needing it much at all. Besides it was much too dry to read more then a few paragraphs at a time. (the CD-ROM included is poorly made too)
Though i will recommend Chemistry: The Central Science (9th Ed, Prentice Hall) since it saved my arse in chemistry more then once. Plus it illustrates a point with a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip; need i say more? :p
