Ok, it's 2:40 GMT, which means it's time for me to go to bed.
But don't worry, Cuneiformist is here to take over the supervision. Just drop in, but be nice to him...

It's now 3:15 GMT (or 10:15 pm on the US East Coast!), and chat is close for the night (at least an official moderated chat...).
But don't forget to stop by on Wednesday night for another fun chat! |

Sunday Chat summary:
Present: Dr. Mabuse, the_ignored, Siberia, Del (and The_One) (registered at SFN as Semi_Mysterious), Paulos23, Storm, Ricky, Creation88, Cuneiformist. (Members dropped in and dropped out during the chat, at no point in time were all members present.)
We started out by discussing Siberias photoshop contest entries. the_ignored enlightened us about the topics going on at Rapture Ready: They have opened a fan-mail section, and unlike other Christian boards (they claim) they also have negative letters to read. Ironic that they claim to be open-minded.
Then Del dropped in. Del presented himself as a psion-in-training, coming from PsiPog.net. After a short discussion it was obvious that he had posted on SFN, and it was confirmed when he gave us his e-mail address. He has two postings in this thread.
After some discussions on Psi-Balls, ESP, and Telepathy, he got annoyed and logged in a sock-puppet under the handle The_One. When Dr. Mabuse eventually called him out on the sock-puppet, Del became abusive and finally left.
As if prompted by a telepathic command, less than a minute after Del finally left, Storm joined us.
The chat quickly turned to ghosts... Storm had an interesting ghost story to tell, experienced by a woman she had met through the course of her work. A sudden death of a school boy prompted "sightings" in multiple locations away from actual place of death. Storm made at least Dr. Mabuse proud by telling that when faced with the story, she asked the lady about the possibility of natural (non-ghostly) explanations, suggesting some scenarios. However, the in end, Storm seemed to have concluded that is was a genuine ghost-related event.
It was a fascinating story, sad, yet entertaining. But with the lack of hard evidence, left only with anecdotes, the rest of the present participants of the chat reached the consensus that no scientific conclusion could be made from the description of the observed phenomena. Two Catholic priests had separately been consulted regarding this, and though one had dismissed the phenomena as nonsense, the other had expressed concern, Dr. Mabuse suggested that both reactions fit well what would be expected from the religiously indoctrinated priests.
Storm asserted that ghostly phenomena originates from a chemical decomposition, electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic energies lingering after death. A discussion erupted about the ghosts, the priests involvement, and the science of the forces of nature. Unfortunately it went downhill from there and ended with Storm leaving without saying goodbye.
Shortly after that, Cuneiformist arrived to relieve Dr. Mabuse who was getting tired.
Cuneiformist, what was discussed after I left? |

You are that vain...
The ghost story was interesting, though anecdotal. Inadmissible in the court of science. But entertaining. |
