A new thread for nominations, folks. For details, see this thread.

Come on let's get some nominations here. I don't want to see this great idea yanked due to lack of interest. Surely it's not too much to come up with at least one post/thread nomination per month.

I'd like to nominate logical deism for thread of the month. It really took off after Giltwist started posting there. If it's not eligible (since it was started last month) then I'll switch my nomination to meta-skeptisism.

Also for PotM, Boron10's post on this page.

No, "Logical Deism" is no longer eligible for TotM, though individual posts within it (in this month) are okay for PotM.

And thank you very much for your enthusiasm!

Great minds think alike, eh? I too, liked that post.

But, while I like both the post and the thread, the month is yet young. I'll wait a bit and see if something better comes along.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: rather than forget posts and/or threads you liked, while waiting for something better, go ahead and nominate them when you see them. You can always "un-nominate" them if something you like better comes along later in the month.

The more nominations, total, the better.

But unfortunatly, the ones I liked best thus far have already been gobbled up by dv82matt -- ain't gonna be easy to beat, 'matt!

Now o'course, I could just toss something in, like a fish head into a crab pot, but somehow that seems so... so Republican! No, no, as much as I'd like to help out in the short run, I feel that it's best that I offer something with meat on it. Something that'll catch enough to be worth firing up the steamer in the long run.

filthy, I'm just saying you don't have to wait 'til the end of the month. If you see something you like, nominate it right after reading it.

Exactly. But I haven't seen anything really exceptional, yet.

This is a month-to-month thing, filthy. It doesn't have to be "really exceptional," it just needs to be decent for the month.

Right now, we've got a single nomination each for TotM and PotM, which is fine. There are another 19 days left in June. But there's no reason to not nominate the "second best" for each category, or "third best," or "fourth best," at any time.

As I said, the more nominations, the better. After all, it's the Staff who actually make the picks, in the end, and we may have reasons for picking what you think is "second best." But if they're not nominated at all, even we may forget about 'em. We're only human, after all.

And frankly, the nomination part of this is supposed to be for you guys, the SFN members, and less for the staff. We (the staff) want to hear what you think is a good thread and/or post, and we want to hear about all of them, not just those you think are the epitome of the SFN mission. I'd like to see six or more nominations for each category by month's end, every month, on average, but maybe that's just me.

And on a personal note, filthy, I'm a little surprised that you haven't remarked at all on the TotM award graphic, even to let out a little public guffaw.

Yer gonna get the last word on this or die in the attempt, ain'tcha?

But, sorry, I didn't know that there was going to be a graphic, nice one or otherwise -- short attention span, and all that. Didn't even know that one was thought desirable. Any hints as to what it might be? Are we open to suggestions (I'd best pass on that, I think. My imagination is too, well, graphic and besides, I'm not entirely sure what is meant by 'Graphic' in this context)?

So okay, ok. Anything to keep the piece peace. I'll tentatively
nominate this thread, and the tenth post after the OP -- it's just so hard to work under all this pressure....

Edited 'cause I got the count wrong and strenously misspelled 'tentatively'.

Hooray (bells and whistles, falling baloons, and barely legal pole dancers performing on the the table tops)! We gots a winnah -- all the losers gets to buy a round for the house!

My nomination has been completed.

A jackalope! Or a variation thereof, anyway. I like it!

I knew a taxidermist that used to make them, among other oddities. Go for it!

Yes, indeedy. Our Thread of the Month award is The Golden Jackalope.

Glad you like it.

We're still working on a Post of the Month image, which we think we're going to give away to the winning authors on a T-shirt.
