I will be visiting Washington, D.C., either on the weekend of May 5, or in early June, depending on my work. If there is anybody in the area, let me know and we should have coffee / lunch / dinner / couple drinks together, eh?

I'll probably be staying in Crystal City. Haven't made the reservations yet, though. |

Hey, May 5 is only a few weeks away. There are some good places in Crystal City to get a drink and a meal and sit around chatting for a while. Well, there were, as I must admit the last time I did so was about 17 years ago. But I can't imagine things have changed for the worse, there.
Anyway, we do have some "locals" aside from myself who'd probably be interested in a small get-together. The sooner we nail things down, the better. Everyone, can we at least get a show of hands on who would be tentatively willing to show up somewhere around DC sometime close to when Boron is going to be here? |

Well that's ok, then, since there is a good chance I cannot make it out there in a few weeks. I'll most likely have to wait until early June (around the 7th and 8th). |

Well, Boron gave us definite dates in last night's chat: June 7th-10th (IIRC). The 10th is a Saturday, so I was kinda hoping we could find some skeptically oriented thing to do in DC for some hours that day - sort of like an East-coast version of "The Skeptic Friend's visit to the ICR" - but I'm coming up short on ideas which would be both interesting and not swamped with tourists on non-skeptical visits. I'm sure there are such attractions outside the city, but that would likely involve transportation other than Metro.
Of course, just taking up a table or two at a DC restaurant and chatting in person for a while would suit me just fine, but I'm not sure how much of a draw that would be to other out-of-state SFN members.
At any rate, we've got six weeks or so. Let's hear some more chatter on this, please. |

I don't have any ideas yet, but I marked it on my calendar and I'm 90% sure I can go. |

I should be able to make it.
As far as activities go, how about a tour of the Spy museum? Or the Natural History Museum? (I'm sick of the Aerospace museum). Or are those endeavors not "skeptical" enough? Maybe we can find a Church of Scientology and all go in and get E-readings?

I've been to the Church of Scientology in DC. I think it's only entertaining when it's almost closing time and you're really drunk, 'cause they don't have enough time to do things right, and the whole scheme just sorta falls apart.
What I was hoping for was for us to be able to go examine some piece of woo-woo as a group, but that seems unlikely to happen (I think DC real estate is probably too expensive for people to set up woo-woo sorts of museums), in which case the Natural History Museum would get my vote. I haven't been since I was a kid. |

Put me down, lightly in pencil, as a highly indefinite maybe-to-unlikely (I may have to repair my time machine and join you from 2008 or so). The Spy Museum would be cool; I haven't been there. Or maybe the Newseum. Hmmmm... |

I don't think there will be a need, unless we decide to go into VA or MD. |
