NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Leading Indian writers, artists, lawyers and academics led by author Vikram Seth have written an open letter urging the government to overturn a British colonial era law that criminalizes homosexuality.

Good to know gay rights are spreading to parts of the non-Western world. Of course I have no idea how much influence these "leading Indian writers, artists, lawyers and academics" have on the government. But even if they fail, this is a very good sign.

It's very strange that Indians are still oppressing themselves using laws written by their former colonial rulers. Good luck to this group in getting this monstrous law off the books!

Daily show had a good piece tonight showing the ignorance of kicking gay Arabic translators out of the military. Stupid at any time but especially stupid now.
