There were some pretty bad arguments made in An Inconvenient Truth. Not because good arguments don't exist, however. I saw some "see, here's an inflection point in our graph, x coincided with it, therefore, x caused it." It was pop science, the real science wasn't shown. Good science exists to support the conclusions, but it didn't make it into the movie in parts. I don't think there's enough in the movie to really indicate how much real support the conclusions have if you didn't read further.
The "probability-driven" complaint is nonsense though. I'm not sure what he means by "multifactorial" functions, but I presume he doesn't mean what it means in math, and just means functions with many factors, but that isn't a valid complaint either. (Unless he has a more detailed argument.) |

At my work, we analyse our production output quality factors using statistics. And even in that situation, where hard math is applied to actual production numbers, the final result is presented with a probability span and a certainty factor less than 100%.
(I haven't bothered to learn exactly how that work, because those statistics is only mariginally important to my work, but since the application stretches so much farther, I just might.)
