They, the Republicans and their religious right (which isn't) masters, are starting to chop chunks from each other, and it now looks like the IRS might be getting interested. Complaint filed with IRS after Tampa televangelist compares Romney to Satan
By Alan Cooperman Washington Post Posted June 1 2007, 10:44 AM EDT
WASHINGTON _ Florida evangelist Bill Keller says he was making a spiritual -- not political -- statement when he warned the 2.4 million subscribers to his Internet prayer ministry that ``if you vote for Mitt Romney, you are voting for Satan!''
But the Washington-based advocacy group Americans United for Separation of Church and State says the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) should revoke the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status of Bill Keller Ministries, nonetheless. Keller, 49, who has a call-in show on a Tampa television station and a Web site called Liveprayer.com, on May 11 sent out a ``daily devotional'' that called Romney ``an unabashed and proud member of the Mormon cult founded by a murdering polygamist pedophile named Joseph Smith nearly 200 years ago.
| Hey Mitt, you snivling, little cultist puke, are you gonna take that lying down like some whipped cur afraid of biting back at the big, bad preacher-man?
What's not to love; it keeps gettin' better'n better.

Looks suspicious that this group would be going after a right wing basher. I wonder if it's one of those "Our name really means the opposite" groups?
I keep waiting for my tax audit for blatantly speaking out against Bush online. You think that data mining they are doing includes harassing the little guys? Or do you suppose I'm much too insignificant?
Probably the latter, I suppose.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell |

YO: First...Beskeptigal: you're certainly not insignificant, but you are unworthy of a tax audit, I'd guess. I think these punitive people holding such power these days, go for bigger fish than those of us who rant at this site about today's "leadership."
Second: If there's anyone who doubts that Bill O'Reilly doesn't have, at least, a flirtation with Nazism, get a load of this....

That is one disgusting person.
"white Christian male power structure of which you are part, and so am I."
That is insane. The other day I caught a brief bit of his show while incessantly channel surfing. He was saying Katie Couric was going to fail because the public was used to getting the news from a male and they trusted the male power figure. O'Reilly wasn't sure the public was going to trust a female newscaster.
This guy certainly must have issues with women. Did you ever hear him reading from his pornographic novel? Al Frankin used to play a sound bite from it all the time. Really creepy, that was. And a lot of it matched the phone recordings he harassed that female producer with. He has a loofa in the shower fetish.
He's sooo creeepy. Bleaugh!

Bill is the calling point for a certain segment; much as many on both sides. They; together, the two parties, create these charterers to use your emotions to manipulate you.
Bill once did a story about how Kennedy was a conspiracy (when he had hair). Compare this with his treatment of guests today.

| Don't understand the Kennedy/hair connection.
Never the less, O'Reilly, et al. ("et al." means I'm talkin' to you, Limbaugh, you junked-out, lying, festering chancre scab!), like the horrid blebs of a serious snake bite, is a symptom of a much deeper problem. In that his scumbaggery is not only tolorated but admired, shows a genuine lack of empathy in the general public.
But, in a way, I like having the fool(s) around. He and others of the ilk instill enough venom in me that when I unload on them, I can put some heart & soul into it.
Sometimes I think I'd like to do an interview with one or another of them, but it'd not be a good idea. I've got too hot a temper and a lot of bones to pick.

Here's the O'Reilly Couric comment. Last night on The O'Reilly Factor, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly blamed CBS's ratings on the fact that Couric is a woman. I think it's a woman thing, O'Reilly said. It's an authority position. Most middle Americans who watch news feel comfortable with men in that position. That's what's going on. |

Is he wrong, though? I personally could care less who is doing the TV news, because they are just reading cue cards written by others and are merely talking heads. And TV news for the most part is not to be trusted as "objective" anymore.
But does he have a point that "middle" Americans (is this like Middle Earth?) do take authority from males? Just look at their religion - Christianity. Women (for the most part) are not trusted in the Bible, especially Mrs. Numero Uno. Their god is definitely male (2/3 male, 1/3 ghost), and almost all the pastors, preachers, etc. are male. Some sects of the religion do not allow women to be pastors at all. |

OY: Continuing this thread slightly changing now to whether females are inferior:
Bill O'Reilly is a media whore just like Newt Gingrich, except we must suffer O'Reilly more often.
He knows he can keep some ratings with such bullshit about white, male Christianists and Katie Couric's dismal ratings. He is actually showing his ignorance of the importance of women in our society and around the world. If more human beings were to put their trust in women handling important issues there would be less bloodshed. It's just that fuckin' simple. I am a heterosexual male, and love women for their general sense of gender and also because I have always liked to have sex with the ones who attract me on that level. But, for me, a woman is a woman, whether I think she's hot or not.
Moreover, there are many more 'limp-dicked' men on television than there are women who can't cut it being on camera reading a prompter. If you can stand the stomach upset, watch some of the dorks on Fox Noise Channel for a while. But Mr. O'Reilly isn't a dork, he's just a crazy person appealing to the insane out there in television land!
And yes, I've heard him read his trash on the air, too. It sounds about right coming from his mind with his voice.
With Free Speech, we really have to put up with some monsterous assholes; Bill O'Really being one among way too goddamned many. Eric Severeid said that more euphemistically in an editorial on CBS News (Cronkite) a long time ago. May Eric rest in peace. Now, there was a newsman's newsman.

| Yes, Pleco he is wrong. There are any number of variables that can make or break a news program. O'Reilly picks out the one that feeds his bigoted ego and declares that's the reason? I think not.
Why would it have to do with male authority? It could just as easily be people are just used to something. It could be Couric isn't appealing in that position for any number of other reasons. It could be the programming. Where is there one shred of evidence it has anything to do with a male being seen as an authority figure and people want their news from an authority figure? And since when does Couric represent all women? Maybe she isn't an authority figure but many other women would be.
O'Reilly isn't someone whose opinion I would trust on how to tie my shoe, let alone on some psychosocial issue it would actually take research and expertise to determine.
Are there other areas where male authority figure might fit in a sentence? Sure. This one just isn't one of them. Or at least O'Reilly isn't an expert on the subject.

I agree. But I think that his point has some play into this, for the reasons I cited. I don't care about his ego, etc. Let's forget about O'Reilly.
Is it possible that one reason is because of a bias against women as authority figures? I believe there is.

Yes, I think Couric is actually half human/half mouse and I have never found anything appealing about her. Does she represent all women? No, of course not. Do I have any evidence to back up that a bias agains women authority figures has any bearing on this. No, I do not. I just have a feeling it plays a part.

Agree, and agree. I just thought that (accidentally) he touched on a latent bias that is ingrained in the white, conservative psyche.
I think it would be interesting to do a study of this type, if it hasn't been done already.
here is a female co-worker of mine that will not vote for Hillary because she is a woman. She feels that a woman cannot be President. This person voted for (she says) Kerry in the last election, and Gore before that. I do not present this as evidence of anything, just an interesting tidbit. |

Beskeptigal asked: Are there other areas where male authority figure might fit in a sentence? Sure. | Indeed. We males are the unchallenged experts at writing our names in the snow with urine, aside from the spelling. (Beat that, Gloria Steinem!)
