Seattle – “Jack Kevorkian's decade-long assisted suicide campaign was never about compassion,” says bioethicist and assisted suicide expert Wesley J. Smith. “It was about Kevorkian's obsession to engage in human vivisection.”
Smith, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute and attorney for the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, urges the media to report the story of Jack Kevorkian's release from prison accurately and not promote the false myth of “Jack the Martyr.”

A google on Mr. Smith tells us that he is a lawyer, rather than a medical professional, so where he gets his expertise from is anyone's guess. As is the definition of "bioethicist." The article also shows that he's likely a fair-to-middlin' quote miner as well. He quotes from Kevorkian's book but never shows the context.
Heh, it's good to see that the ID circle-jerk is finally getting over having their clocks cleaned at Dover, although I don't quite understand what assisted suicide has to do with an intelligent designer. It seems to me that if the designer was so damn' smart, there'd be no need for it.

| I can't wait until DI starts stating opinions on abortion, the death penalty, dogs and cats sleeping together, and other social issues...perhaps then people will see DI as just another fundy-christian money vacuum. |

| Either there's some definition of vivisection I'm not aware of, or Mr Smith has no idea what he's talking about. As Filthy noted, the quote seems a bit out of context and it's clear that Kervorkian isn't as nefarious as Smith is leading us to believe. Indeed, he seems to be rather deluded: what media outlet is portraying Kervorkian is a martyr? |
